Defining Features

To enhance the flexibility and effectiveness of product recommendations, several configurable features are available for each recommendation widget. These features allow you to tailor the behavior and presentation of recommendations to better align with your business goals and customer experience.

  • Determine if a headline is included:This is a title the customer sees on the menu board.
For accounts that have defined the Store attribute: Language a “Multilingual” option appears. This enables you to configure a specific title for each available language.
  • Define the slot behaviors.
    See the following table:

FEATURE

DESCRIPTION

Fallback on 1st Keypress

When enabled, if no recommendations are available after the first item is added to the basket, a fallback response will be returned immediately.
If disabled, no response is returned after the first item, and Dynamic Yield will wait until a second item is added before attempting to return recommendations.

(Only available in Drive-Thru)

Category Multi-Products

When enabled, this feature allows the recommendation engine to include up to two products from the same category within a single recommendation set.
This increases flexibility in surfacing relevant items, especially in categories with high product affinity or limited inventory.

Shuffle

Randomly selects a recommendation from within the top 'X' recommendations returned by the algorithm.
For example: Configuring 4,7,10 will return in Slot 1 one of the top 4 returned recommendations, in Slot 2 one of the top 7 recommendations, and in Slot 3 one of the top 10 from the returned recommendations list.

Partial Recommend

When enabled, this feature allows the system to return available recommendations even if the full number of requested items cannot be filled.
For example, if 6 recommendations are requested but only 4 are available, those 4 will still be returned.
If the feature is not enabled, the system will return an empty response in such cases.

Shifting

By default, recommendations are returned only for the first request after an item is added to the basket; any subsequent requests return an empty response.
When this feature is enabled, recommendations will be returned for every new request, allowing for continuous updates as the basket changes.
(Only available in Drive-Thru)

Upsell

When “upsell_target” column is added to the product feed, recommendations display a related, higher-value or complementary product in the first slot

NOTE: When there is an upsell product to present, rules configured in this slot will not be applied

Replace Taken

When enabled, if a product is selected from a recommendation slot, a new product from the same group will be returned to replace it.
On Drive-Thru implementations, this feature is only relevant when Shifting is disabled.

Weighted Shuffle

When shuffle is enabled, higher-scoring products are given a greater probability of being displayed.

For CSFL ONLY

Define the slots:

  • Slot Number - Define the number of recommendations sent

Define the Weight Parameters:

Weight Parameters determines the balance between the influence of the selected strategy and the attributes of individual products. If you want recommendations to prioritize products based on their price or based on their profit margin, you can adjust the weight percentage accordingly.

In addition to setting the % influenced by strategy and % profit margin, you can also define a price percentage (% price) and specify whether the recommendation should prioritize from high to low or low to high.

By default, 100% is allocated to Strategy Weight.
